Ruwanweli Maha Seya, also known as the Ruwanwelisaya, is one of Sri Lanka's most significant and revered stupas, located in the ancient city of Anuradhapura. Built in the 2nd century BCE by King Dutugemunu, this colossal stupa is renowned for its impressive scale and historical importance. Standing at approximately 55 meters (180 feet) tall and with a circumference of 300 meters (984 feet), it is a masterpiece of ancient engineering and Buddhist architecture. The stupa is surrounded by a series of intricately carved moonstones and is a focal point of pilgrimage and worship.
