Sri Pada (Adam's Peak): Sri Lanka's Sacred Mountain

Sri Pada, also known as Adam's Peak, is a majestic and revered mountain in Sri Lanka’s Central Highlands. Standing at 2,243 meters (7,359 feet) above sea level, it is renowned for its distinctive footprint-shaped summit, which holds sacred significance for multiple religions. For Buddhists, it is believed to be the footprint of the Buddha; for Hindus, it is the footprint of Lord Shiva; and for Muslims and Christians, it is associated with Adam. Pilgrims and trekkers undertake a challenging climb to the summit, often starting in the early hours to reach before sunrise and witness breathtaking panoramic views. The trek is a spiritual journey for many, involving a series of steps and a significant ascent through lush forests and rocky terrain.
